Garrett recently finished his running career at Stanford University where he was an 8-time All American, national champion in the indoor DMR, and competed at the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 1500m. He finished his senior season with a 2nd place finish at the outdoor NCAA meet, recording the 3rd sub 3:40 1500m time of his career. Heath first broke the four-minute mile barrier in February of 2007 (3:59.60) and later set his current personal best at the Payton Jordan Invitational (3:37.57) during his senior outdoor season. In the 5000m race on the track, Heath also recorded the fastest time of his career at the Stanford Invitational (13:42) in his senior year.
