During his collegiate career Gilmore was a Pac-10 scorer on three separate occasions in the 10,000 meters. After graduating, Gilmore joined the Farm Team in Palo Alto to continue his training but eventually left to pursue the roads. Gilmore qualified for the Trials in his first marathon when he ran a 2:21:48 at the 2002 Chicago Marathon. 2004 was a great year for Gilmore as he finished second at the California International and finished 8th at the 2004 Olympic Trials. Peter has run the Boston Marathon multiple times and in 2005 he finished an impressive 10th. He came back the next year in 2006 to place 7th and set a new PR of 2:12.
