Lyndsay Harper was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While attending high school at the Albuquerque Academy she set several state records and was recruited to the University of Virginia in 2007. Harper competed as a Cavalier for four years and became a school record holder in the 800m. In her senior season she earned first and second team All-American honors. In 2011, Lyndsay competed at the USATF National Championships, placing 20th overall in the 800m. With the momentum of her breakout senior year under coach Mary Jayne Reeves, Harper went on to pursue a post-collegiate career. Harper's steady improvement in 2012 led to a new personal best in the 800m of 2:03.16, a time that qualified her to the US Olympic Trials. She set personal bests in the 400m (54.98), and 1500m (4:18.80) as well. Lyndsay recently relocated to Berkeley and will continue to pursue her mid-distance career as a member of the Bay Area Track Club.
