When Alysia Montano's husband Louis threw out the idea of skydiving while they honeymooned in New Zealand, she did not attack the idea they way approaches the 800 meters. In this video Alysia talks about the rush of the jump and the anxiety that came with it.
A five-time All-American with Cal, Alysia won America's three major 800m titles in 2007: NCAA Indoor, NCAA Outdoor, and USATF. In addition to qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Trials, she was the PAC-10 champion and West Regional Champion in both 2007 and 2008. She also holds the PAC-10 800m record, the West Regional 800m record, and four UC Berkeley schools records: indoor 800m, outdoor 800m, 4x400 relay, and sprint medley relay.
