BATC athletes have been making the most of the past month in Europe, either getting ready for the upcoming World Championships or slashing PRs. The Diamond League meet that took place in Stockholm on July 29th was host to some of the best athletes in the world including a few of our own! Alysia Montano, David Torrence, and in her Diamond League debut, Magdalena Lewy-Boulet, took advantage of the Swedish crowd. Alysia ran her last 800 abroad before returning home to run on familiar tracks and in the California sun. In Stockholm she garnered one last, and important, look at her competition for Daegu. David continued his workhorse summer racing schedule with a season’s best 1500m of 3:35.95 earning third place. Finally, Magda ran a track PR of over 50 seconds in the 5000m by running 15:14.25. She can now lay claim to being one of America’s finest over every distance from 5000m to the marathon!
Shannon Rowbury was not to be left behind in the mid-summer Diamond League action as she ran the 1500m in London on August 6th. She is rounding into World Championship form at the right time, running a season’s best 4:05.73 for third place! Afterward, she hopped on a train and climbed up to St. Moritz for some last minute altitude training before Daegu.
Clara Peterson held up the domestic front of racing for BATC in Maine at Beach to Beacon 10k. She put in a fine 6.2 miles of racing under some pretty intense sun and humidity and really looks to be rounding into form for some great fall racing!
